A DECADE OF CREATIVITY

In 1997 the world was beginning to feel the aroma of a new millennium, people were talking of the marvels of new technology, of the creation of artificial life and the cloning of animals and humans, but we continued to be concentrated in creating beauty with the oldest of human crafts. We wanted to weave a future and for that purpose we created this adventure called Women in Textile Art.

In these ten years we have organized four biennials, in which we have incorporated artists from the whole world, who have found in us a way to freely express their essential and transcendent needs. This labor has allowed us to be the only international artistic biennial to have survived in Latin America.

Our organization has incorporated men who have dedicated themselves to textile art, as we already demonstrated in the most recent of our biennials, and in doing so, we are now a force ready to confront the challenges of the future.

Since the inception of our organization I have always been sure that we would light the road leading us to the universal recognition of our artistic values, on an equal foot with other expressions of human talent. After one decade we are proud to present this magnificent event and we have more than enough motives to rejoice in this anniversary.

As founder and president of this organization, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the people who have contributed, unselfishly and dedicatedly, with their presence and cooperation to attain the goals that we had established for this stage and now I cordially invite you to welcome a new and triumphant decade.
