III International Biennial “Square – Carre – Cuadrado” 2004

ImageAt the end of the II Biennale Exhibition the Organization Board of Directors decided to choose Latin America as the projection platform since there is no other similar activity throughout the continent. Thus, the following Biennials would be specifically organized and held in different countries as a means of creating an awareness and generating new queries on the subject. With this kind of boost, perhaps - it is to be hoped for - the new generation of artists would take their inspiration from art itself as an agent of change, and may end requesting (demanding) suitable changes within the educational current structures which, in turn, would lead to new schools both for textile art and textile design, factors for human as well as industrial development.

Thus, working along these new guidelines, the III International Biennale came to be held for the very first time out of its home territory, and the honor of hosting it was granted to the City of Valencia, in Venezuela. The Exhibition was successfully held at the Cultural Museum -meeting and even surpassing all expectations in such a way that it had to be extended for an extra month. This time, the number of art pieces shown at the exhibition rose to 116 from 37 different countries, besides those pieces belonging to 9 guests artists also chosen in a worldwide basis.
